ABOUT KATHERINE HEIGL
Katherine Heigl is an award winning actress and a producer. She is best known for her starring roles in the feature films “Knocked Up”, “27 Dresses” and “The Ugly Truth”, and for her portrayal of Dr. Isobel ‘Izzie’ Stevens in the renowned ABC television medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy”, where her performances earned her an Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress In A Series.
On the big screen, Heigl starred opposite Seth Rogen in Judd Apatow’s smash hit “Knocked Up” and Gerard Butler in the hugely successful romantic comedy “The Ugly Truth” – both movies earning over $200 million at the box office. Under their Abishag banner, the Heigl’s also developed and produced the CIA espionage series “State Of Affairs” for NBC, in which Katherine played the central role opposite Alfre Woodard.
Further television credits for Heigl include the critically acclaimed USA Network television series “Suits” where she headlined as hard-hitting lawyer Samantha Wheeler, CBS legal drama series “Doubt”, Christian drama telefilm “Love Comes Softly” and three seasons starring as the alien-human hybrid Isabel Evans in Jason Katims cult sci-fi show “Roswell”.
She can currently be seen on screen leading the Netflix adaptation of the best-selling novel “Firefly Lane” with Sarah Chalke. The hit drama, which Heigl also executively produced, was viewed by over 49 million users in the first month after release and will return for a second season in late 2022. Katherine is also set to star in the limited series “Woodhull”, the story of feminist icon Victoria Woodhull who was the first woman to run for the U.S. presidency in 1872.
Outside of film and television, Katherine co-founded the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation with Nancy Heigl in 2008 with the goal of ending animal cruelty, neglect and abuse. The non-profit organization has since rescued over 8000 dogs from high kill shelters and funded 25,000 spay/neuter surgeries. In 2022, she launched Badlands Ranch, a premium dog nutrition brand named after her family ranch, which prioritizes animal well-being and welfare through its sponsorship of the Heigl Foundation. Katherine also works closely with children’s groups and charities to raise awareness of adoption and fostering, and is dedicated to promoting the importance of organ and tissue donation.
In her personal life, Heigl is married to singer-songwriter Josh Kelley and the couple have three children: daughters Nancy Leigh Mi-Eun and Adalaide Marie Hope; and a son, Joshua Bishop Kelley Jr. Katherine and her family live in rural Utah, where she enjoys reading, art, crafts, knitting, gardening and cooking in her spare time.
ABOUT JASON DEBUS HEIGL FOUNDATION
Katherine Heigl and her mother Nancy co-founded the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation in 2008 in honor of her late, older brother. The foundation helps fund pet education programs, actively supports spay/neuter programs and pet adoption programs; and provides funding to help other rescue groups. It also funds and supports dog transport programs that transport dogs from local overcrowded Southern California shelters to both no-kill shelters and rescues in areas where there is greater demand for pets.
