Today’s show is dedicated to the importance of rescuing animals and supporting your local shelters. First, Robin is joined by acclaimed children’s book author Diane Rose-Solomon who talks about her new book “JJ the American Street Dog,” and the book’s message about pet adoption. Later, the head of Trupanion Pet Insurance’s Shelter Support Program, Lisa Marcotte, drops by to discuss their efforts in supporting animal shelters nationwide and their relief efforts following the recent deadly Washington State mudslide.

Diane Rose-Solomon

Diane Rose-Solomon, a Certified Humane Education Specialist, rescued the real JJ 19 years ago. This is her first book, and the first in the “JJ The American Street Dog” series, with four more in the works. Ms. Rose- Solomon lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two children and two rescued dogs, Gonzo and Ninja.  

Lisa Marcotte

Lisa Marcotte is the Business Development Manager at Trupanion. She joined the company after working 5 years as a veterinary technician in Washington. She brings a passion for animals and ensuring they have every opportunity possible to receive the care they deserve, which is the driving force behind Trupanion’s Shelter Support Program she helped establish in 2013. Lisa shares her time with her three cats Aiden, Jasper, and Cerreh.
