4 Legged Mini Wonders
Therapy animals come in all shapes and sizes... including incredibly adorable miniature horses! On this episode of My Dog Digs Dirt meet Debbie Garcia-Bengochea, Education Director of Gentle Carousel MiniatureTherapy Horses, a wonderful all volunteer nonprofit charity, started almost 20 years ago, on a mission to bring love and comfort where and when it's most needed.
When a real horse walks into the hospital room of a sick child or a veteran it is always a magical experience. Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses is an all volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity. The teams of tiny horses visit over 45,000 adults and children each year inside hospitals, hospice programs, and with children who have experienced traumatic events. From the school children and first responders of Sandy Hook Elementary School / Newtown, CT to the tornado survivors of Moore, OK, the victims of the Charleston church shooting and child trafficking victims in Washington D.C., these tiny horses bring their special love where it is needed most.
Gentle Carousel's award winning literacy program Reading Is Magic also brings real horses inside schools, at risk youth programs and libraries to inspire young readers and "bring books to life".
