Cathy Trauernicht founded Ramp4Paws to make life easier for dogs and their owners. Her company sells a unique, lightweight yet sturdy ramp to help dogs get in and out of vehicles.

Cathy’s idea for a dog ramp was inspired 11 years ago by her first Labrador Retriever, when the dog jumped out of the family station wagon and sprained her legs.  For 8 years, she worked with a respected design engineer to develop a ramp that would be sturdy and easily portable.

Ramp4Paws dog ramps are manufactured in Somerset, WI, and have been available for one year. During this short time, the product already has received three awards:  Best New Dog Product (Global Pet Expo, Orlando, FL), Silver Medal Award for Product Excellence (H.H. Backer Show, Chicago, IL), and 2007 Plastics Consumer Product Design Award (Society of Plastics Engineers, Brookfield, CT).

Cathy’s entrepreneurial spirit has been nurtured by a variety of experiences.  Following graduation from Mount Holyoke College (South Hadley, MA), she worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC,  for five years before deciding to enter the private sector.  After earning an MBA from The Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia), she worked for The Bank of New York in New York City.  As a commercial banking officer, Cathy always enjoyed touring plants to better understand how products were made.

It would be 19 years later … after raising two accomplished children … that Cathy would hone her entrepreneurial skills and start her dog ramp company.  Her corporate objective is to promote safety and convenience for dogs and their owners by continuing to produce the unique Ramp4Paws dog ramp.
