Dr. Steven Hansen , DVM, MS ,MBA, DABT, DABVT

 

Dr. Steven Hansen, who joined the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) in 1997, leads the management team in the maintenance and development of programs and services. Hansen received his BS and DVM from Iowa State University, as well as an MBA from the University of Illinois. He completed a residency program in Veterinary Toxicology and received an MS in Veterinary Medical Science from the University of Illinois. Before joining the APCC, Hansen was the Director of Veterinary Research and Support for Bensenville, IL-based Wellmark International (Sandoz Agro Animal Health Division) and practiced clinical medicine in suburban Houston and Chicago.

Dr. Hansen is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) and the American Board of Veterinary Toxicology (DABVT). He holds an adjunct appointment at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, and chairs the Veterinary Committee of the American Association of Poison Control Centers. Hansen is also a member of the Iams Science Advisory Board and the AVMA Animal Welfare Advisory Committee.
