Announcer: Let's talk pets on petliferadio.com.

00:01:43.957 --> 00:01:45.437
Michelle Fern: Welcome back, everyone.

00:01:45.437 --> 00:01:47.397
Michelle Fern: So I received these cards in the mail.

00:01:47.397 --> 00:01:48.997
Michelle Fern: They're called Bruno's Place.

00:01:48.997 --> 00:01:51.737
Michelle Fern: They're Pawsitive Dog Coaching Cards.

00:01:51.737 --> 00:01:56.737
Michelle Fern: I don't recall in all the years doing Best Bets for Pets ever getting anything quite like this.

00:01:56.737 --> 00:02:01.077
Michelle Fern: They're actually playing cards, but they also are training cards.

00:02:01.077 --> 00:02:04.377
Michelle Fern: They include all kinds of training tips.

00:02:04.377 --> 00:02:06.517
Michelle Fern: I'm going to list them because there's a lot.

00:02:06.517 --> 00:02:13.817
Michelle Fern: Crawl, shake, take a bow, spin, settle, down, come, stay, sit, fetch, drop it.

00:02:14.337 --> 00:02:16.817
Michelle Fern: Roll over, turn left, turn right.

00:02:16.817 --> 00:02:22.077
Michelle Fern: And how the game is played is there's at least two teams.

00:02:22.077 --> 00:02:28.817
Michelle Fern: So that's a team of one pheumen or two-legged person and one fur babe.

00:02:28.817 --> 00:02:45.317
Michelle Fern: So the objective of the game is for the two teams to take turns getting cards and then using the cards and practicing the different trick or command for your pooch.

00:02:45.317 --> 00:02:52.317
Michelle Fern: So for example, I'm looking at the one that says fetch, and there's three steps to each of the different commands.

00:02:52.317 --> 00:02:55.197
Michelle Fern: There's basic commands and there's advanced commands.

00:02:55.197 --> 00:03:03.877
Michelle Fern: And let me say this, these are a sign of the time because there's really cool graphics on the cards and fetch actually has a guy with a man bun.

00:03:04.297 --> 00:03:06.837
Michelle Fern: So, you know, these are current for sure.

00:03:06.837 --> 00:03:12.157
Michelle Fern: And so when you look at fetch, it's actually an advanced command.

00:03:12.157 --> 00:03:14.317
Michelle Fern: Okay, probably not the best one to start with.

00:03:14.317 --> 00:03:21.897
Michelle Fern: Let's start with the stay command, which is actually part of the fetch command.

00:03:21.897 --> 00:03:25.537
Michelle Fern: So for the stay command, that's a basic command.

00:03:25.537 --> 00:03:36.797
Michelle Fern: And all you're doing, it says at first, you know, introduce a distraction, then go ahead and walk a little further and work on saying stay as you are going back.

00:03:36.797 --> 00:03:41.377
Michelle Fern: Now, each of the different steps has different amount of points.

00:03:41.377 --> 00:03:46.237
Michelle Fern: So for example, stay has three is a basic command with three different cards.

00:03:46.237 --> 00:03:53.117
Michelle Fern: The first couple of things, which is say, sit, reward them, put your hand out, so forth.

00:03:53.117 --> 00:03:56.377
Michelle Fern: You know, how you teach your dog to sit has 10 points.

00:03:56.377 --> 00:04:03.157
Michelle Fern: As it progresses and it becomes a little harder for both you and your four legged friend, you get more points, 20 points.

00:04:03.157 --> 00:04:05.857
Michelle Fern: And then card number three is 30 points.

00:04:05.857 --> 00:04:07.717
Michelle Fern: And that's a basic command.

00:04:07.717 --> 00:04:16.237
Michelle Fern: And if you look at the more advanced, here we are back to fetch with the man bun and looks like a little German Shepherd puppy.

00:04:16.237 --> 00:04:20.097
Michelle Fern: This requires sit, stay and come commands.

00:04:20.097 --> 00:04:26.617
Michelle Fern: Now, they again start with the basic, you know, as you're introing it, 10 points, then 20, then 30.

00:04:26.617 --> 00:04:32.137
Michelle Fern: And there's also some cards, I guess it's like, you know, wild cards.

00:04:32.137 --> 00:04:33.777
Michelle Fern: There's one that says skip a turn.

00:04:33.777 --> 00:04:44.637
Michelle Fern: There was one that says refuse, time crunch, ask for a card so that you can go away with, get away with maybe not doing anything if your dog needs a little chill time.

00:04:44.637 --> 00:04:47.417
Michelle Fern: And then this is how the winners decided.

00:04:47.417 --> 00:04:53.177
Michelle Fern: The game ends when neither team has any command cards and it's the team with the highest amount of points.

00:04:53.177 --> 00:04:55.117
Michelle Fern: That's the team that wins.

00:04:55.117 --> 00:04:56.957
Michelle Fern: So nice little cards.

00:04:57.097 --> 00:05:05.237
Michelle Fern: This is great for keeping kids busy, especially if you have two dogs or two puppies or there's friends with, you know, that each have their dog.

00:05:05.237 --> 00:05:06.757
Michelle Fern: This is a great idea.

00:05:06.757 --> 00:05:09.977
Michelle Fern: You know, I advise it for, again, young kids.

00:05:09.977 --> 00:05:13.517
Michelle Fern: Adults should be present to supervise, but a great little toy.

00:05:13.517 --> 00:05:19.237
Michelle Fern: As I said, this is actually a card game and you can play, you know, this with another team.

00:05:19.237 --> 00:05:28.257
Michelle Fern: But I also think as a side note, it can be a cool idea for a parent and their little munchkin and teaching them how to train their dog.

00:05:28.257 --> 00:05:31.677
Michelle Fern: Because you can say, let's do the cards for a crawl today.

00:05:31.677 --> 00:05:32.857
Michelle Fern: That's a fun trick.

00:05:32.857 --> 00:05:37.017
Michelle Fern: And then, you know, it has the different steps on three different cards.

00:05:37.017 --> 00:05:39.657
Michelle Fern: And you could just forget about the points.

00:05:39.657 --> 00:05:44.697
Michelle Fern: So there's a couple of uses which makes Bruno's Place cards really fun.

00:05:44.697 --> 00:05:48.017
Michelle Fern: Remember, they're Pawsitive Dog Coaching Cards.

00:05:48.017 --> 00:05:48.977
Michelle Fern: Now stay tuned.

00:05:48.977 --> 00:05:50.097
Michelle Fern: We're going to be right back.

00:06:58.825 --> 00:06:59.905
Michelle Fern: Welcome back, everyone.

00:06:59.905 --> 00:07:02.125
Michelle Fern: I'd like to welcome Julianna Carella.

00:07:02.125 --> 00:07:04.325
Michelle Fern: She is the founder of Treatibles.

00:07:04.325 --> 00:07:05.565
Michelle Fern: Welcome, Julianna.

00:07:05.565 --> 00:07:06.285
Julianna Carella: Thank you.

00:07:06.285 --> 00:07:07.165
Michelle Fern: Thanks for having me.

00:07:07.165 --> 00:07:08.625
Michelle Fern: I'm very excited to have you.

00:07:08.625 --> 00:07:10.545
Michelle Fern: So what is Treatibles?

00:07:10.545 --> 00:07:13.925
Julianna Carella: Treatibles is actually the very first CBD pet product.

00:07:13.925 --> 00:07:16.285
Julianna Carella: We just celebrated our 10-year anniversary.

00:07:16.285 --> 00:07:25.745
Julianna Carella: We were founded in 2013 as an offshoot of our parent company, Auntie Dolores, which used to be a cannabis edibles company based in California.

00:07:26.445 --> 00:07:30.405
Michelle Fern: Well, congratulations on your 10-year anniversary.

00:07:30.405 --> 00:07:31.305
Julianna Carella: Thank you.

00:07:31.305 --> 00:07:33.305
Michelle Fern: Why did you create Treatibles?

00:07:33.305 --> 00:07:34.805
Julianna Carella: Well, there's a lot of reasons.

00:07:34.805 --> 00:08:05.685
Julianna Carella: The main reason was when we were involved in cannabis years and years ago, when we started to become familiar with CBD, we began cultivating CBD cannabis strains because we were fascinated with just the medicinal benefits being that it's not psychoactive like THC is, and yet it has a long list of amazing health benefits, some of which were really synergistic with pet problems that we see across the board.

00:08:05.685 --> 00:08:18.585
Julianna Carella: So nobody else was really doing this at the time, and nobody knew much about it either because there's been such a concerted effort to misrepresent the benefits of cannabis and hemp.

00:08:18.585 --> 00:08:30.085
Julianna Carella: So it was really fascinating to start giving it to our own pets, my employees and different partners and people that we knew that had pets, that were really excited about trying a CBD product.

00:08:30.085 --> 00:08:44.305
Julianna Carella: When we saw the results, we were amazed and so we started to really develop products specifically for pets, and began selling it into the California Cannabis Dispensaries that were already carrying our human products, which were THC products.

00:08:44.305 --> 00:09:07.625
Julianna Carella: So it was fascinating to start off in that environment and then figure out how we could actually become a national brand because as a cannabis brand in California, we were sort of confined to just California, but when we started using hemp to extract the CBD, we were able to sell the product across state lines, and that's how we became a national brand.

00:09:07.625 --> 00:09:13.405
Julianna Carella: Then we branched out to other countries such as Japan, so now we're an international brand.

00:09:13.405 --> 00:09:17.905
Julianna Carella: But we really started as a very small brand in California and just grew from there.

00:09:18.385 --> 00:09:19.685
Michelle Fern: Well, congrats.

00:09:19.685 --> 00:09:32.125
Michelle Fern: What are some of the issues that you ran into way back when you first started in maybe educating the pet parent on the other positive abilities of CBD?

00:09:32.125 --> 00:09:32.585
Julianna Carella: Yeah.

00:09:32.585 --> 00:10:14.305
Julianna Carella: Well, it really became an effort in education and is still very much an education-based brand to this day, mostly because there's a lot of misconceptions about cannabis and hemp and a lot of misunderstanding, and that's probably due to the fact that it's been over 100 years that we've had this negative propaganda filling the space, and now with CBD and all the benefits and the cat out of the bag, so to speak, we really needed to educate customers and also just potential customers in the difference between THC and CBD so that they would understand, look, we're not trying to get our animals high, we're trying to get our animals well again.

00:10:14.985 --> 00:10:23.725
Julianna Carella: And it's the benefits of CBD are very different from the benefits of THC, and there's a lot of different applications for it.

00:10:23.725 --> 00:10:30.925
Julianna Carella: So we had to retrain a lot of people into thinking, hey, you know, the cannabis plant has a lot to offer.

00:10:30.925 --> 00:10:41.645
Julianna Carella: There's chemicals that come from the plant that are not psychoactive, and then there's some that are, and all of it's beneficial for a lot of different reasons, and there's so much more we need to learn.

00:10:41.885 --> 00:10:49.885
Julianna Carella: But at the end of the day, we've came to realize just how safe it was and how effective and how perfect it is for pets.

00:10:49.885 --> 00:10:56.105
Julianna Carella: But again, education is something that we constantly are really focused on because it's needed.

00:10:56.105 --> 00:10:57.785
Michelle Fern: I absolutely agree.

00:10:57.785 --> 00:11:02.545
Michelle Fern: You touched on something about how CBD has a lot of benefits for your pets.

00:11:02.545 --> 00:11:04.105
Michelle Fern: What are some of those benefits?

00:11:04.105 --> 00:11:13.405
Julianna Carella: Well, so CBD, one of the things I just want to preface everything with saying is, there's the endocannabinoids and then there's phyto-cannabinoids.

00:11:13.645 --> 00:11:17.645
Julianna Carella: Endocannabinoids are actually the cannabinoids that we produce in our body.

00:11:17.645 --> 00:11:20.325
Julianna Carella: Our pets also produce these.

00:11:20.325 --> 00:11:23.945
Julianna Carella: Well, the phyto-cannabinoids are really almost exactly the same.

00:11:23.945 --> 00:11:30.105
Julianna Carella: They're cannabinoids that come from the plant, so they really mimic some of these things that we are producing in our bodies ourselves.

00:11:30.105 --> 00:11:33.905
Julianna Carella: But sometimes we need more of it, so do our pets.

00:11:33.905 --> 00:11:46.585
Julianna Carella: In the case of pets and CBD and the applications, at many times, it's an anxious animal that needs CBD because there's an incredible affinity between CBD and the nervous system.

00:11:46.585 --> 00:11:54.665
Julianna Carella: There's also a great affinity between CBD and, you know, joints and inflammation, so it's great for bringing down inflammation.

00:11:55.025 --> 00:12:00.125
Julianna Carella: It's great for taking the inflammation out of the joints or really anywhere in the body.

00:12:00.125 --> 00:12:11.705
Julianna Carella: So there's a few things that it really has this incredible affinity for, like I said, the nervous system, and that's why we see great results with anxiety or even epileptic seizures.

00:12:11.705 --> 00:12:21.945
Julianna Carella: So anything related to the nervous system or anything that causes inflammation, those are like the two big areas where we can provide a lot of relief to pets.

00:12:21.945 --> 00:12:27.045
Julianna Carella: Now, there's a bunch of other conditions that it's good for too, that we've added to the list.

00:12:27.045 --> 00:12:36.585
Julianna Carella: I mean, being that we've been doing this for over a decade now, we learn from our customers what it's also good for, and some of it are things we had no idea about.

00:12:36.585 --> 00:12:39.525
Julianna Carella: So it's a constantly growing list.

00:12:39.525 --> 00:12:46.005
Michelle Fern: What's one of those things that you would think, I didn't think CBD would be helpful with this ailment?

00:12:46.005 --> 00:12:55.325
Julianna Carella: Well, we learned more recently how good it is for the gut and the microbiome, and how good that is for the immunity of the pet.

00:12:56.465 --> 00:13:14.445
Julianna Carella: So it's bringing, again, you're bringing down the inflammation, you're putting the system back into balance, so that their immune system works as well as it's supposed to, so that they have the energy level they're supposed to have, so that they can have a lot of energy without being anxious.

00:13:15.385 --> 00:13:22.885
Julianna Carella: So a lot of those things, and then there's just different conditions, Hodgkin's lymphoma, all types of cancers.

00:13:23.265 --> 00:13:33.885
Julianna Carella: We've heard from customers whose pets had cancerous tumors that shrunk down after using this product for months on end.

00:13:33.885 --> 00:13:36.145
Julianna Carella: Again, I could just go on and on.

00:13:36.145 --> 00:13:57.345
Julianna Carella: A lot of these haven't had true research attached to them yet, but that's something that's very much in the process now because ever since that 2018 farm bill passed, it basically took hemp off of the schedule one narcotic status, which it never should have been classified as that, and that action in itself opened up a lot of research.

00:13:57.345 --> 00:14:02.905
Julianna Carella: The research is really important because we need to be able to quantify all of this.

00:14:02.905 --> 00:14:12.085
Julianna Carella: Just hearing from customers is one thing, but being able to see it truly prove itself to be true in research is even better.

00:14:12.825 --> 00:14:16.225
Julianna Carella: That's been real exciting to see that come to fruition.

00:14:16.225 --> 00:14:18.285
Michelle Fern: Yes, that's great information.

00:14:18.525 --> 00:14:25.225
Michelle Fern: And it's also good even this show, just in educating the public because there's so many misconceptions.

00:14:25.225 --> 00:14:27.505
Michelle Fern: And you would think by now people would get it.

00:14:27.505 --> 00:14:32.365
Michelle Fern: They would know, I mean, hemp is not THC, it's not CBD.

00:14:32.365 --> 00:14:42.385
Michelle Fern: But it's also interesting finding out that it can be used for other things because most people think if they're going to use anything CBD related, it's for anxiety only.

00:14:42.385 --> 00:14:48.725
Michelle Fern: But knowing it's for other ailments and that sort of thing, joints, inflammation, that's a big one, really good.

00:14:48.725 --> 00:14:55.785
Michelle Fern: How would you introduce Treatibles to your, now is it only for dogs or is it for dogs and cats?

00:14:55.785 --> 00:14:57.485
Julianna Carella: It's for all animals.

00:14:57.485 --> 00:15:03.565
Julianna Carella: I mean, we market dogs, cats, and horses because legally you get reptiles.

00:15:03.565 --> 00:15:04.145
Julianna Carella: Yeah.

00:15:04.145 --> 00:15:10.085
Julianna Carella: I mean, all animals except for insects have receptors for cannabinoids.

00:15:10.085 --> 00:15:21.705
Julianna Carella: So if they've got an endocannabinoid system, meaning they've got these endocannabinoid receptors, which all animals except for insects do, then they're going to respond to CBD.

00:15:21.705 --> 00:15:23.725
Julianna Carella: It just really depends on the dosage.

00:15:23.725 --> 00:15:27.485
Julianna Carella: I mean, we were treating a grizzly bear for years.

00:15:27.485 --> 00:15:37.105
Julianna Carella: One of the grizzly bears up in Oregon at the Wildlife Safari came out of hibernation and couldn't walk because he had really bad arthritis in the hind legs.

00:15:37.105 --> 00:15:46.225
Julianna Carella: Well, they started giving him 300 milligrams a day, easing our capsules, and the bear started to run around like a bear cub again.

00:15:46.465 --> 00:15:56.785
Julianna Carella: That went on for three more years until he ended up passing of natural causes, but they were about to put that bear down because they couldn't get him to walk.

00:15:56.785 --> 00:15:59.065
Julianna Carella: We've seen miraculous things.

00:15:59.065 --> 00:16:05.145
Julianna Carella: Now, if they weren't going to give that bear enough CBD, we may not have seen that response.

00:16:05.145 --> 00:16:12.605
Julianna Carella: It really comes down to making sure the animal gets the proper dosage, and that can be a trial and error process.

00:16:12.605 --> 00:16:21.965
Michelle Fern: If you're going to introduce CBD to, say, your dog or cat, that's what most of us have in our homes that have four legs anyways.

00:16:21.965 --> 00:16:25.845
Michelle Fern: If you're going to give it to your dog or cat, how should you start?

00:16:25.845 --> 00:16:27.945
Julianna Carella: Yeah, that's a great question.

00:16:27.945 --> 00:16:35.505
Julianna Carella: We've got a dosage range, which is one milligram for every 10 pounds, all the way up to one milligram per pound.

00:16:35.805 --> 00:16:44.645
Julianna Carella: So let's say you've got a 50-pound dog at home, you would actually start with five milligrams and see how that does.

00:16:44.645 --> 00:16:50.145
Julianna Carella: If that doesn't give the results you're after, then you give more up until his weight.

00:16:50.145 --> 00:16:57.445
Julianna Carella: So you could start with five and then increase to 10, then 15, all the way up to 50 milligrams per dose.

00:16:57.445 --> 00:16:59.305
Julianna Carella: So that's what's nice about this.

00:16:59.305 --> 00:17:09.585
Julianna Carella: It's got this wide range of action, but it's also got a very wide dosage range that's safe and not going to knock your animal out.

00:17:09.585 --> 00:17:15.825
Julianna Carella: Now, the only reason you want to start with the low end is because many animals respond to very low doses.

00:17:15.825 --> 00:17:25.425
Julianna Carella: In fact, dogs actually have more cannabinoid receptors than any other animal, more than humans, more than cats, more than horses, etc.

00:17:25.425 --> 00:17:28.805
Julianna Carella: So they tend to need less CBD.

00:17:28.805 --> 00:17:30.665
Julianna Carella: So you didn't be surprised.

00:17:30.725 --> 00:17:35.805
Julianna Carella: Sometimes you're going to give a small dog a little chihuahua with crazy anxiety.

00:17:35.805 --> 00:17:44.005
Julianna Carella: Sometimes might need a bigger dose than a lab who's 100 pounds and is really chill and has a little bit of arthritis.

00:17:44.005 --> 00:17:48.705
Julianna Carella: So it kind of really depends on the severity of the conditions.

00:17:48.705 --> 00:17:53.465
Julianna Carella: But we always tell folks, start with one milligram for every 10 pounds of weight.

00:17:53.465 --> 00:17:58.325
Julianna Carella: Then because we have so many different types of products, they all do the same thing.

00:17:58.325 --> 00:18:02.305
Julianna Carella: I mean, they all have the same active ingredient, which has all of these benefits.

00:18:02.305 --> 00:18:09.125
Julianna Carella: In fact, we just started this five in one benefits marketing to really get people to understand.

00:18:09.125 --> 00:18:16.945
Julianna Carella: You don't have to pick one CBD product for calming and another CBD product for arthritis and another one for epilepsy.

00:18:16.945 --> 00:18:19.265
Julianna Carella: I mean, Treatibles does all of those things.

00:18:19.265 --> 00:18:22.245
Julianna Carella: Whatever your pet needs, they're going to get from Treatibles.

00:18:22.245 --> 00:18:27.285
Julianna Carella: So we tell folks, pick the product that you think your animal is going to actually enjoy ingesting.

00:18:27.805 --> 00:18:31.545
Julianna Carella: Some animals like hard treats, some like soft treats and so forth.

00:18:31.545 --> 00:18:33.965
Julianna Carella: So that's what we tell folks.

00:18:33.965 --> 00:18:35.545
Michelle Fern: That was going to be my next question.

00:18:35.545 --> 00:18:38.485
Michelle Fern: What types of Treatibles do you have available?

00:18:38.485 --> 00:18:41.885
Michelle Fern: As you said, it depends on what they like ingesting.

00:18:41.885 --> 00:18:48.025
Michelle Fern: Most dogs, if they like what they're getting, they like the flavor, they'll eat anything, at least mine did.

00:18:48.025 --> 00:18:48.645
Julianna Carella: That's right.

00:18:48.745 --> 00:18:55.985
Julianna Carella: That's why we make these products really tasty and definitely products that the animal is going to come back for more.

00:18:56.105 --> 00:19:03.405
Julianna Carella: Because when you're trying to give an animal something every four hours, you want to make sure they're going to like it because it's hard to ingest.

00:19:03.405 --> 00:19:05.845
Julianna Carella: It's hard to give an animal something they don't like.

00:19:07.205 --> 00:19:18.765
Julianna Carella: We've got customers that buy multiple products from us because they like to just give their animals a little bit of a variety, but really the active ingredient in all those products is the same.

00:19:18.765 --> 00:19:23.725
Julianna Carella: The senior pets might not be able to eat a hard treat, so they might go for the soft shoes.

00:19:24.145 --> 00:19:29.965
Julianna Carella: Or you might find that your animal is really easy to give them a capsule inside a pill pocket or something like that.

00:19:29.965 --> 00:19:32.465
Julianna Carella: So we've got capsules, we've got dropper bottles.

00:19:32.465 --> 00:19:35.485
Julianna Carella: You can put the dropper oil directly into the pet's mouth.

00:19:35.485 --> 00:19:38.785
Julianna Carella: You could put it in your hand, have them lick it from your hand.

00:19:38.785 --> 00:19:42.785
Julianna Carella: There are so many different ways to get these products into the pet system.

00:19:42.785 --> 00:19:48.305
Julianna Carella: Really, it's just about choosing the products that you think will be the easiest to get into your pet.

00:19:48.305 --> 00:19:50.305
Julianna Carella: And that's the best place to start, really.

00:19:50.945 --> 00:19:56.125
Michelle Fern: Right, especially with cats or with the finicky dogs but especially cats.

00:19:56.125 --> 00:20:01.785
Julianna Carella: Cats are tough and we have a hard time developing products for them because they are very picky.

00:20:01.785 --> 00:20:12.665
Julianna Carella: But our number one selling product, believe it or not, is our transdermal cream for cats because you can actually take the cream and put it on the tip of their ear and they will calm down.

00:20:12.665 --> 00:20:15.205
Julianna Carella: It will address their joint inflammation.

00:20:15.485 --> 00:20:22.325
Julianna Carella: It will address seizures and anything else you might be giving that cat CBD for, you can put it on their ear.

00:20:22.325 --> 00:20:24.165
Julianna Carella: They don't have to eat anything.

00:20:24.165 --> 00:20:26.125
Julianna Carella: So that's been phenomenal.

00:20:26.125 --> 00:20:26.845
Michelle Fern: Let's go back to that.

00:20:26.845 --> 00:20:30.285
Michelle Fern: That is a great tip, but it only works for CBD.

00:20:30.285 --> 00:20:32.225
Michelle Fern: So you could just put it on the tip of their ear.

00:20:32.225 --> 00:20:35.645
Julianna Carella: Yeah, because it's a transdermal cream that we developed.

00:20:35.645 --> 00:20:36.145
Michelle Fern: Okay, the cream.

00:20:36.225 --> 00:20:42.945
Julianna Carella: It's in a small tube, but it's got a thousand milligrams in it, and it has a really strong dermal penetrant.

00:20:42.945 --> 00:20:53.485
Julianna Carella: And other features to this cream that make it really easy to use with your pets is it absorbs very quickly, because pets have a tendency to lick anything off that you put on their skin.

00:20:53.485 --> 00:21:00.585
Julianna Carella: So if you want to put this on hot spots or on an area that they could get to with their mouth, they're going to likely lick it off.

00:21:00.585 --> 00:21:04.025
Julianna Carella: But this absorbs so quickly that they don't even get a chance to do that.

00:21:04.545 --> 00:21:11.045
Michelle Fern: Hopefully, you're doing a lot of advertising out there with hot spots because this sounds like a great product for that.

00:21:11.045 --> 00:21:11.925
Julianna Carella: It is.

00:21:11.925 --> 00:21:16.825
Julianna Carella: We're very limited on how we can advertise because of being a CBD company.

00:21:16.825 --> 00:21:21.865
Julianna Carella: So I mean, it's unfortunate, but that's just the reality of it for us.

00:21:21.865 --> 00:21:26.685
Julianna Carella: We'd be doing a lot more advertising if we didn't hit so many brick walls.

00:21:26.685 --> 00:21:27.205
Michelle Fern: Yeah.

00:21:27.205 --> 00:21:36.325
Michelle Fern: My personal opinion is separate from this show, so I'm not going to say it, but we talked about the dosage and how the best type of form for the dosage.

00:21:36.325 --> 00:21:37.805
Michelle Fern: When should you see results?

00:21:37.805 --> 00:21:40.205
Michelle Fern: Because some people like me are impatient.

00:21:40.205 --> 00:21:42.205
Michelle Fern: I can see myself.

00:21:42.205 --> 00:21:45.725
Michelle Fern: I gave Charlotte some of the Treatibles that you sent.

00:21:45.725 --> 00:21:46.485
Michelle Fern: Thank you.

00:21:47.125 --> 00:21:47.445
Michelle Fern: Okay.

00:21:47.445 --> 00:21:52.245
Michelle Fern: She's just going to be calm and be a good cat right now, but that's not the way to go.

00:21:52.245 --> 00:21:53.025
Michelle Fern: I'm sure.

00:21:53.025 --> 00:21:56.605
Julianna Carella: Well, again, there's a couple of things that happen.

00:21:57.245 --> 00:22:02.145
Julianna Carella: If you're not seeing the results, then that pet probably needs more of it.

00:22:02.145 --> 00:22:09.125
Julianna Carella: Or because with calming, you should definitely see something change within 20 to 30 minutes.

00:22:09.125 --> 00:22:16.005
Julianna Carella: If you didn't see that happen, it's time to try another product, get more in their system, etc.

00:22:16.005 --> 00:22:19.365
Julianna Carella: Believe it or not, cats sometimes need a high dose.

00:22:19.365 --> 00:22:21.305
Julianna Carella: That's been a real surprise for us.

00:22:21.305 --> 00:22:26.185
Julianna Carella: Again, back to the receptor system, cats don't have as many receptors as dogs.

00:22:26.405 --> 00:22:27.945
Julianna Carella: Sometimes they need more.

00:22:28.265 --> 00:22:30.165
Michelle Fern: Julianna, what about this?

00:22:30.165 --> 00:22:36.345
Michelle Fern: Some people have, like me in my household, a partner that doesn't like to give anything different.

00:22:36.345 --> 00:22:40.185
Michelle Fern: But I am a rebel, so I say, no, we're going to try this.

00:22:40.185 --> 00:22:42.005
Michelle Fern: We're going to try different things.

00:22:42.005 --> 00:22:44.905
Michelle Fern: They're my test crews, so they have to.

00:22:44.905 --> 00:22:49.725
Michelle Fern: Mostly, I think people have an underlying fear because they're not sure.

00:22:49.725 --> 00:22:54.485
Michelle Fern: It's still new for the most part, and they don't know if their four baby is going to get sick.

00:22:54.885 --> 00:23:05.325
Julianna Carella: Yeah, well, that's a legitimate question, especially if you've seen an animal ingest a THC cannabis product, and you see the results of that, that's very scary.

00:23:05.325 --> 00:23:14.205
Julianna Carella: So the response that you get from CBD from hemp when there's no THC in the product is completely different from that, but you still have that stigma.

00:23:14.205 --> 00:23:21.305
Julianna Carella: And so many people are literally scared to even try giving CBD because they think it's going to make their pet high or it's going to knock them out or whatever.

00:23:21.665 --> 00:23:34.305
Julianna Carella: The worst thing that really could happen with giving a CBD product is if you give too much of it, your pet can get a little diarrhea or vomiting because their system has just become super relaxed.

00:23:34.305 --> 00:23:38.065
Julianna Carella: And so they might lose control of their bladder, you know.

00:23:38.065 --> 00:23:45.725
Julianna Carella: But in terms of like it having real detrimental effects, it's just, it's not even possible, actually.

00:23:45.725 --> 00:23:52.425
Julianna Carella: Something that came up recently, which is really exciting, is the National Animal Supplement Council conducted research.

00:23:52.425 --> 00:24:01.785
Julianna Carella: They've actually got many members that produce CBD products, and we have to report every month if we've got any adverse events that come up.

00:24:01.785 --> 00:24:10.765
Julianna Carella: And so they took all the CBD pet product administrations, of which there was over 19 million different administrations.

00:24:10.765 --> 00:24:17.705
Julianna Carella: And of all of those administrations of CBD products to pets, there was less than 25 adverse events.

00:24:18.365 --> 00:24:18.985
Michelle Fern: Wow.

00:24:18.985 --> 00:24:21.705
Julianna Carella: Which is like 0.00001%.

00:24:23.865 --> 00:24:25.345
Julianna Carella: It's like a lot less than 1%.

00:24:25.985 --> 00:24:29.005
Julianna Carella: So incredible safety rating.

00:24:29.005 --> 00:24:34.485
Julianna Carella: Because you know, every single medicine has to be rated in terms of safety, right?

00:24:34.485 --> 00:24:38.845
Julianna Carella: The safety rating for CBD is phenomenally good.

00:24:38.845 --> 00:24:39.505
Julianna Carella: So it's really hard.

00:24:39.505 --> 00:24:47.265
Julianna Carella: That's why this dosage range is kind of, it's pretty big because you can get a little or a lot, but you do need to test it out with your pet.

00:24:47.365 --> 00:24:54.165
Julianna Carella: And that's why we tell folks to start with the low dose, because you'd be surprised how many pets will respond to such a low dose.

00:24:54.165 --> 00:25:01.105
Julianna Carella: And then, you know, whatever dose works for your pet, that's the dose you repeat every four hours or whenever it's needed.

00:25:01.105 --> 00:25:15.025
Julianna Carella: There's another thing about the CBD products that's really great for pets is, you know, suppose your pet doesn't have anxiety all the time, but they get anxious at 4th of July because of the fireworks or they get anxious during thunderstorms.

00:25:15.205 --> 00:25:20.085
Julianna Carella: Well, we tell folks, you know, pretty much every pet is going to need CBD sooner or later.

00:25:20.085 --> 00:25:31.485
Julianna Carella: They may not need it every day, but you can still keep it in the house and have it on hand for when those, you know, occasional moments come up when your pet is just losing their mind with anxiety.

00:25:31.485 --> 00:25:33.925
Julianna Carella: And that's where you really get to see it in action.

00:25:33.925 --> 00:25:39.225
Julianna Carella: It's amazing to see a pet who would normally be anxious under a certain set of circumstances.

00:25:39.225 --> 00:25:43.105
Julianna Carella: They're given the product and they just go lie down and chill somewhere.

00:25:43.105 --> 00:25:44.225
Julianna Carella: It doesn't knock them out.

00:25:44.525 --> 00:25:45.925
Julianna Carella: It's not like a tranquilizer.

00:25:45.925 --> 00:25:50.405
Julianna Carella: It just literally takes the edge off of their anxiety.

00:25:50.405 --> 00:25:53.925
Julianna Carella: And it helps them to have the true personality that they have, right?

00:25:53.925 --> 00:25:55.565
Julianna Carella: So that's really fun to see.

00:25:55.565 --> 00:26:00.065
Michelle Fern: I personally tried CBD and I've tried topical CBD.

00:26:00.065 --> 00:26:01.985
Michelle Fern: And I think it's incredible.

00:26:01.985 --> 00:26:10.405
Michelle Fern: There just needs to be more education, even though there's been a ton and it's made, you know, grown by leaps and bounds the last decade, there still needs to be more.

00:26:10.405 --> 00:26:12.385
Michelle Fern: Where can people buy Treatibles?

00:26:12.825 --> 00:26:17.165
Julianna Carella: So we actually sell our product across the country and in pet stores.

00:26:17.165 --> 00:26:19.445
Julianna Carella: We've got a store locator on our website.

00:26:19.445 --> 00:26:22.245
Julianna Carella: You can also purchase directly from our website.

00:26:22.245 --> 00:26:24.305
Julianna Carella: We ship all over the country.

00:26:24.305 --> 00:26:30.185
Julianna Carella: Unfortunately, we can't ship outside the country at this time, but we are able to ship to all 50 states.

00:26:30.185 --> 00:26:31.925
Julianna Carella: That's probably the easiest way.

00:26:31.925 --> 00:26:40.105
Julianna Carella: But of course, you know, if you can support some of our brick and mortar retailers, we love that too because, you know, they really need the business.

00:26:40.405 --> 00:26:45.145
Julianna Carella: So we like to tell customers to go to the stores and purchase if they can.

00:26:45.145 --> 00:26:46.865
Michelle Fern: I know, we've all become lazy.

00:26:46.865 --> 00:26:47.945
Julianna Carella: You know, it's sad.

00:26:48.465 --> 00:26:50.465
Julianna Carella: We love our brick and mortar customers.

00:26:50.585 --> 00:26:51.825
Julianna Carella: They're awesome.

00:26:51.825 --> 00:27:00.785
Julianna Carella: So yeah, if you have one in your area, like I said, there's thousands of stores across the country that carry our product, and we do have a store locator on our website.

00:27:00.985 --> 00:27:01.245
Michelle Fern: Okay.

00:27:01.245 --> 00:27:03.705
Michelle Fern: And your website is Treatibles.com.

00:27:03.705 --> 00:27:04.405
Julianna Carella: Yes.

00:27:04.405 --> 00:27:11.105
Julianna Carella: And also, following us on social media is another great way to stay connected because we offer a lot of great deals.

00:27:11.105 --> 00:27:15.305
Julianna Carella: So, you know, join our mailing list on our website and you'll get our emails.

00:27:15.305 --> 00:27:19.885
Julianna Carella: We don't send out a ton of emails, but when we do, it's usually for a great discount.

00:27:19.885 --> 00:27:27.085
Julianna Carella: So join the mailing list and then follow us on social media and you'll get all kinds of promos coming your way.

00:27:27.585 --> 00:27:37.505
Michelle Fern: Well, Julianna, I want to thank you so much for coming on Best Bets for Pets and telling us about Treatibles and educating us on the benefits of CBD.

00:27:37.505 --> 00:27:38.185
Julianna Carella: Absolutely.

00:27:38.185 --> 00:27:39.705
Julianna Carella: Thank you for having me.

00:27:39.705 --> 00:27:41.845
Michelle Fern: I hope all of you enjoyed this show.

00:27:41.845 --> 00:27:42.465
Michelle Fern: Wow.

00:27:42.465 --> 00:27:45.445
Michelle Fern: Julianna was so informative about CBD.

00:27:45.445 --> 00:27:48.365
Michelle Fern: I really appreciate all of that education.

00:27:48.365 --> 00:27:50.545
Michelle Fern: Please be sure to check out Treatibles.

00:27:50.545 --> 00:27:58.845
Michelle Fern: I want to thank my test crew, Molly, Charlotte, and Dennis, although really Charlotte did the most testing because she's the most anxious.

00:27:58.845 --> 00:28:03.025
Michelle Fern: Molly's pretty chill, just a diva and Dennis is chill.

00:28:03.025 --> 00:28:05.685
Michelle Fern: He doesn't need a touch of CBD.

00:28:05.685 --> 00:28:06.785
Michelle Fern: That's it.

00:28:06.785 --> 00:28:07.425
Michelle Fern: Thank you.

00:28:07.425 --> 00:28:11.905
Michelle Fern: Thanks so much to my guest, Julianna Carella, the founder of Treatibles.

00:28:11.905 --> 00:28:14.325
Michelle Fern: Thanks to everybody listening to Best Bets for Pets.

00:28:14.325 --> 00:28:17.065
Michelle Fern: I really appreciate all of you so much.
