Science has made a-meow-zing advances in identifying and managing pain in cats. We know that cats have special metabolism and cannot tolerate certain medications. We also know that medicating cats can be a challenge itself.  Today, I have 2 pawsome guests that can help us know how to see if our cats have pain and what the options may be. Learn what to watch for and some tips to make sure your cats are happy and pain-free!

BIO:


Dr. Matt Brunke is a native New Yorker, growing up in New York City. He received his B.S. in Animal Science from Cornell University in 2000, and his DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, graduating in 2004.

He received his certification in rehab in 2008 from the University of Tennessee CCRP program and now teaches for that program as well.

He completed the practice experience pathway for the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2017, and passed ACVSMR boards in January 2018.

As a diplomate of the VSMR college, Dr. Brunke believes in a big picture and practical approach to his patients, and enjoys both orthopedic and neurological cases.

Outside of work, he enjoys running with his dog, Penny.

Kirsty Oliver joined the VSC/ VSCR family in 2016 after spending 14 years at a large veterinary hospital in New Jersey. Kirsty is an English trained Veterinary Nurse and holds an Advanced Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (surgical). Having dedicated the first half of her career to nursing surgical & orthopaedic patients, Kirsty qualified in veterinary rehabilitation (CCRP) in 2005. In 2010, she added CVPP (Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner) through the IVAPM. In 2018, she obtained her VTS in physical rehabilitation with the APRVT (Academy of Physical Rehabilitation Veterinary Technicians). Kirsty’s specialty and keen interest in manual therapy & myofascial work ensures that all our patients are moving at their best!
