Does Your Pet Need Health Insurance?

Dr. Courtney Campbell on Pet Life Radio

In today's episode, I chat with Dr. Emily Tincher from Nationwide Pet Insurance. I ask her all the questions I think my listeners and pet parents have about this important topic.  How does pet insurance work? What does it really do? Why would my cat need it and when?  She explains all of this and more in this fun and informative chat!

Dr. Emily Tincher- Director of Veterinary Relations

She oversees veterinary-facing operations, including industry relationships and outreach to veterinary students, veterinarians and veterinary teams.

Dr. Tincher previously worked as the University Relations Liaison at IDEXX, but she is no stranger to Nationwide’s pet insurance unit. Prior to her role at IDEXX, she served as a Nationwide Field Veterinarian, speaking at veterinary schools through a program affiliated with the Veterinary Business Management Assoc. (VBMA) and sponsored by Nationwide.

“We’re absolutely delighted to bring someone of Dr. Tincher’s caliber into a leadership position on our Veterinary Relations team,” said Dr. Benson. “The fact that she comes to us through our longstanding association with the VBMA is a wonderful testament to Nationwide’s contribution as the founding sponsor of the student-run organization, as well as to the vision of my predecessor, Dr. Carol McConnell.”

A graduate of the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Tincher is a second-generation veterinarian devoted to practical solutions that advance the spectrum of care for pets and their families. After completing a rotating internship, she worked as an emergency practitioner in a specialty referral hospital near Philadelphia while serving as a Field Veterinarian for Nationwide.

Dr. Tincher serves as a leader within the American Veterinary Medical Assoc.’s Early Career Development Committee and the Veterinary Leadership Institute, working to nurture the communication and leadership skills required for veterinary healthcare teams to lead fulfilling careers while meeting their patients’ needs.

In her personal life, Dr. Tincher enjoys taking care of her mini farm with her husband, Kyle, competing with her horse (Blue) in eventing, and endlessly spoiling her two perfect dogs (Tuxedo and Cricket) and rotten orange tabby (Exploding Poptart). Her pets are, of course, covered by Nationwide’s pet health insurance.
