Infusing Inclusion into Animal Rescue with Sterling, the Trap King
This week, we spoke with the legend himself, Sterling Davis, from TrapKing Humane, a TNR-focused organization based in the US. As three dedicated vegans and animal rescuers, we discussed the connections between animal rescue and animal rights, and veganism’s lack of prevalence amongst animal rescuers. As a champion of inclusion and diversity across the animal rescue sector, Sterling shared his experiences around bringing men, people of color, and other groups into animal rescue, to show how everyone has a place in the world of animals. We discussed the prevalence of white animal rescuers being platformed across the world, even in countries where they are not from, and being receivers of the majority of funding and resources provided to animal rescuers globally. Sterling shared his experience during a TNR trip to Greece, where Alex and Sterling first met, and their plans for documentaries, tv shows, and future international rescue trips bringing TNR into the world’s focus.
