BIO:

I’m an Animal Intuitive with a background in Naturopathic Animal Science + Somatic Integration.

After working for years as a Cat Nanny, I was guided to nurture a calling as an ally and guide. Today, I help pet parents beyond pet sitting.

My respect for animals grew into deep admiration once I adopted my first cat, Cloud. Motivated by his health battles and my personal relationship with anxiety, I began to learn multiple modalities. His teachings also inspired me to develop my intuitive gifts, which initially helped me stand out as a cat sitter. Timid cats would greet me at the door, much to their human’s surprise.
Soon enough, I accepted the call to be a spiritual bridge for animals and their humans. During my studies, I discovered that our pets are deeply connected to us—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. These areas are all interconnected.

Mary Tan: Hello, everyone, I'm Mary Tan, one of the hosts of the show, along with Alexandre Card, a French gal who hails from Vancouver and travels the world in hopes of spaying and neutering stray cats.

00:00:40.928 --> 00:00:42.148
Mary Tan: Bonjour, Alex.

00:00:42.148 --> 00:00:44.288
Alexane Ricard: Ho, ho, ho.

00:00:44.288 --> 00:00:46.568
Alexane Ricard: Did I do that right?

00:00:46.568 --> 00:00:48.148
Mary Tan: Yes, you did.

00:00:48.148 --> 00:00:51.108
Mary Tan: Welcome to our Christmas episode, guys.

00:00:51.108 --> 00:00:52.108
Alexane Ricard: I'm so excited.

00:00:52.108 --> 00:00:54.128
Alexane Ricard: I love, love, love Christmas.

00:00:54.128 --> 00:00:56.888
Alexane Ricard: That's my favorite season of all time.

00:00:56.888 --> 00:00:59.928
Alexane Ricard: So I hope you're as excited as I am.

00:01:01.028 --> 00:01:06.408
Alexane Ricard: And I want to introduce you to our producer, Mark Winter of Pet Life Radio.

00:01:06.408 --> 00:01:09.008
Alexane Ricard: Mark, do you love Christmas as much as I do?

00:01:09.628 --> 00:01:11.588
Mark Winter: I love the holiday season, yes.

00:01:11.588 --> 00:01:15.028
Mark Winter: And it goes to say, Joyeux Noël, isn't that right?

00:01:15.028 --> 00:01:16.768
Alexane Ricard: Yeah, Joyeux Noël.

00:01:16.768 --> 00:01:18.508
Alexane Ricard: Yeah, exactly.

00:01:18.508 --> 00:01:20.988
Alexane Ricard: Mark, what is your favorite Christmas movie?

00:01:20.988 --> 00:01:26.348
Mark Winter: Well, there are so many fun ones, like Gremlins and Home Alone.

00:01:26.348 --> 00:01:33.188
Mark Winter: But I think my favorite one is A Christmas Carol from 1951 with Alastair Sim.

00:01:33.188 --> 00:01:34.328
Mark Winter: That's my favorite.

00:01:34.328 --> 00:01:35.428
Alexane Ricard: Okay.

00:01:35.428 --> 00:01:36.548
Alexane Ricard: Mary, what's yours?

00:01:37.668 --> 00:01:40.648
Mary Tan: I think it's the one with Chevy Chase.

00:01:40.648 --> 00:01:41.548
Mary Tan: What's the one?

00:01:41.548 --> 00:01:43.448
Mary Tan: Oh, they're so funny.

00:01:43.448 --> 00:01:44.768
Mark Winter: Christmas Vacation?

00:01:44.768 --> 00:01:47.168
Mary Tan: Yes, I love Christmas Vacation.

00:01:47.168 --> 00:01:51.368
Mary Tan: I can watch that over and over again.

00:01:51.368 --> 00:01:55.648
Mary Tan: Well, we're really honored to be part of Mark's PetLife Radio Network.

00:01:55.648 --> 00:01:58.628
Mary Tan: He's got tons of content out there, right, Mark?

00:01:58.628 --> 00:02:02.688
Mary Tan: What do you got going for the holidays with your other podcasts?

00:02:02.688 --> 00:02:04.488
Mark Winter: Everybody's got like a holiday show.

00:02:05.128 --> 00:02:17.388
Mark Winter: Everybody's talking about what to do and what not to do for the holidays and safety tips for your pets so they don't get into trouble and eat the wrong things and end up at the bed for the holidays.

00:02:17.388 --> 00:02:22.728
Mark Winter: And some of our shows have great gift ideas, which I'm hoping this one will tell me.

00:02:22.948 --> 00:02:25.728
Mary Tan: Yes, absolutely.

00:02:25.728 --> 00:02:31.208
Mary Tan: Well, we're honored to be part of your network, and we just want to stress that you can do PR for yourself.

00:02:31.768 --> 00:02:37.528
Mary Tan: And Alex, Mark and I are going to help you each and every week on the Whisker Report.

Alexane Ricard: So, just to let you know, guys, we're going to have a big social media advent calendar on Whisker Media.

Alexane Ricard: We're going to have 24 days of giveaways from wonderful pet brands, pet businesses, lots of good surprises.

00:02:59.888 --> 00:03:03.208
Alexane Ricard: And yeah, you can win some fantastic stuff.

00:03:03.208 --> 00:03:08.488
Alexane Ricard: But today, to make this episode a bit special, we have a very special guest.

00:03:08.488 --> 00:03:11.508
Alexane Ricard: And no, it's not Santa, but it's close enough.

00:03:11.508 --> 00:03:13.228
Alexane Ricard: We can call her Mrs.

00:03:13.228 --> 00:03:14.868
Alexane Ricard: Claus for pets.

00:03:14.868 --> 00:03:19.048
Alexane Ricard: She's the one who will know what your pet wants for Christmas this year.

00:03:19.048 --> 00:03:21.108
Alexane Ricard: Shay is an animal communicator.

00:03:21.108 --> 00:03:24.788
Alexane Ricard: I actually met her at CatCon thanks to Grace.

00:03:24.788 --> 00:03:30.208
Alexane Ricard: Grace is the one and only behind the Instagram account called Kittyboy in France.

00:03:30.208 --> 00:03:33.268
Alexane Ricard: She also has a small rescue in California.

00:03:33.268 --> 00:03:38.748
Alexane Ricard: And I remember telling Shay how anxious I was about Tzatziki, my cat.

00:03:38.748 --> 00:03:43.828
Alexane Ricard: We were going to travel all the way from Paris to Vancouver, and we're going to have a big flight.

00:03:43.828 --> 00:03:46.228
Alexane Ricard: And I was so stressed out.

00:03:46.228 --> 00:03:48.588
Alexane Ricard: And that's when she told me she could help.

00:03:48.588 --> 00:03:50.988
Alexane Ricard: And I was very, very skeptical at first.

00:03:50.988 --> 00:04:01.308
Alexane Ricard: But after having a couple of sessions with Shay and flying with the calmest cat ever for 11 hours, I do not have any doubts about Shay's abilities.

00:04:01.308 --> 00:04:04.548
Alexane Ricard: So I'm really excited to have her on the show today.

00:04:04.548 --> 00:04:09.268
Alexane Ricard: Shay, can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you started talking with animals?

00:04:09.268 --> 00:04:11.808
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah, thank you for having me here, first off.

00:04:11.808 --> 00:04:12.708
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah, I'm Shay.

00:04:12.708 --> 00:04:23.848
Shay Sora Kim: I'm located in Los Angeles, California, but I do this work remotely so that shouldn't deter anyone from reaching out because this still works via Zoom as well.

00:04:25.068 --> 00:04:31.048
Shay Sora Kim: And my story really starts around, I guess I could start it at the pandemic.

00:04:31.048 --> 00:04:38.428
Shay Sora Kim: So like for many of us, that was a time that was like a real shift and had scratching our heads about our lives.

00:04:38.428 --> 00:04:44.948
Shay Sora Kim: And for me, I had this poll, like many of us cat owners have had to get a cat.

00:04:44.948 --> 00:04:49.048
Shay Sora Kim: And it was my very first cat and I just didn't question it.

00:04:49.048 --> 00:04:50.848
Shay Sora Kim: And I just went to get a cat.

00:04:50.848 --> 00:04:57.708
Shay Sora Kim: I probably thinking it would help with my loneliness and being indoors all the time, living the apartment lifestyle.

00:04:57.708 --> 00:05:06.048
Shay Sora Kim: And quickly was dealing with a bunch of health issues for him and being met with a wall about what to do.

00:05:06.048 --> 00:05:12.328
Shay Sora Kim: I always did believe in this work and I've used animal communicators for my family pets in the past.

00:05:12.328 --> 00:05:17.088
Shay Sora Kim: And so I just sought one and I sought a bunch of holistic ways to help heal him.

00:05:17.088 --> 00:05:19.568
Shay Sora Kim: And I met my current mentor, Ms.

00:05:19.568 --> 00:05:24.888
Shay Sora Kim: Karen Denny-Smith, who really urged me to do this work myself to learn it.

00:05:24.888 --> 00:05:27.808
Shay Sora Kim: And I'm like, I like how, how is that for?

00:05:27.808 --> 00:05:34.428
Shay Sora Kim: And she encouraged me to start reading books and she even told me that there are schools for this work.

00:05:34.428 --> 00:05:47.568
Shay Sora Kim: And so I just felt called to do that and pursue a certification, mostly to start helping my own cat, but then it quickly took a life of its own and now I'm fully launched.

00:05:47.568 --> 00:05:53.348
Shay Sora Kim: I actually launched my business in the spring of this year and it's led me here with you.

00:05:53.348 --> 00:06:01.608
Alexane Ricard: Can you just let us know, and I know it might be difficult to say in a few words, but how does it actually work?

00:06:01.608 --> 00:06:04.388
Alexane Ricard: How do you speak to animals?

00:06:04.388 --> 00:06:06.608
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah, so it's intuition.

00:06:06.608 --> 00:06:12.068
Shay Sora Kim: And I will stress that this is something that we all have the opportunity to learn.

00:06:12.068 --> 00:06:14.028
Shay Sora Kim: We can all do this if we so choose.

00:06:14.028 --> 00:06:23.588
Shay Sora Kim: It's just that not everyone chooses to, you know, cultivate intuition and work on trusting themselves to do this work, right?

00:06:23.588 --> 00:06:32.348
Shay Sora Kim: But it's really that, you know, we're developing trust in our own intuitive abilities, and then strengthening it over time.

00:06:32.348 --> 00:06:35.008
Shay Sora Kim: And like anything, like practice makes perfect.

00:06:35.008 --> 00:06:40.468
Shay Sora Kim: So the more you do this, you know, the more it helps you continue on.

00:06:40.468 --> 00:06:43.168
Shay Sora Kim: You know, we're getting a little technical, it's energetic.

00:06:43.448 --> 00:06:47.088
Shay Sora Kim: So, you know, our animals, our energy, the way that we are energy.

00:06:47.088 --> 00:06:53.728
Shay Sora Kim: And so I'm essentially tapping in to an energetic field to get information download from our parents.

00:06:53.728 --> 00:06:54.468
Shay Sora Kim: Does that make sense?

00:06:54.468 --> 00:06:55.688
Mary Tan: Yeah, absolutely.

00:06:55.688 --> 00:07:02.168
Mary Tan: You know, in the field that we're in, we often use animals to promote products and different things.

00:07:02.168 --> 00:07:07.648
Mary Tan: This might be an off the wall question, but how can we tell if the animal likes it or not?

00:07:07.648 --> 00:07:16.848
Mary Tan: If they have all the behavior, like they're okay doing it, but sometimes I feel like my cat's rolling his eyes at me.

00:07:16.848 --> 00:07:17.668
Mary Tan: Yeah.

00:07:17.668 --> 00:07:22.348
Shay Sora Kim: Well, I would encourage you to trust that feeling and explore it.

00:07:22.348 --> 00:07:24.468
Shay Sora Kim: Why is the cat rolling its eyes?

00:07:24.468 --> 00:07:35.428
Shay Sora Kim: Maybe he or she is mirroring something back to you that you need to look at, whether it's maybe you recently got a product yourself or yourself that has you rolling your own eyes.

00:07:35.428 --> 00:07:44.388
Shay Sora Kim: And so he's showing you, hey, you know, trial and error is also something that they encourage and also maybe we can look at that within ourselves.

00:07:44.388 --> 00:07:54.548
Shay Sora Kim: But for the most part, when their behavior is clear and tolerant and it, because you know, cats will show us if they don't like something for the most part.

00:07:54.548 --> 00:08:03.908
Shay Sora Kim: And so if they're accepting of it, I would trust that they're willing to give it a shot or at least enjoy the process of like, oh, she's giving me something new.

00:08:03.908 --> 00:08:05.788
Shay Sora Kim: Let's like figure it out together.

00:08:06.148 --> 00:08:06.888
Alexane Ricard: Okay.

00:08:06.888 --> 00:08:08.028
Alexane Ricard: >Wow.

00:08:08.028 --> 00:08:14.948
Alexane Ricard: Well, we have to take a little break to pay for this episode, but then we'll be right back with Shay to talk more about Christmas and pets.

Announcer: Let's talk pets on petliferadio.com.

00:09:49.951 --> 00:09:57.451
Alexane Ricard: And we're back with Shay, the one and only who managed to help me fly with my cats from Paris to Vancouver.

00:09:57.451 --> 00:10:05.411
Alexane Ricard: Shay, I remember during one of our sessions, you said Tsutsuki was showing you Christmas, and that she was kind of excited about it.

00:10:05.411 --> 00:10:10.271
Alexane Ricard: Can you tell me why pets could get excited about a human holiday?

00:10:10.271 --> 00:10:13.411
Shay Sora Kim: Oh, I love that question, yes.

00:10:13.411 --> 00:10:18.111
Shay Sora Kim: As early as like maybe September, pets were starting to bring up Christmas.

00:10:18.111 --> 00:10:18.791
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah.

00:10:18.791 --> 00:10:19.451
Shay Sora Kim: Year in there.

00:10:19.451 --> 00:10:22.571
Shay Sora Kim: And it's typically for a couple of reasons.

00:10:22.591 --> 00:10:35.311
Shay Sora Kim: One is that they love the spirit of Christmas, especially if they're humans, are really into it, just because there is that obvious energetic shift, and like all of our spirits are lifted.

00:10:35.311 --> 00:10:45.471
Shay Sora Kim: It's also because it's colder at times, and so they want to bond with us to not only like physically warm, but like internally warm us.

00:10:45.471 --> 00:10:49.871
Shay Sora Kim: And then so it's, yeah, that spirit is something like they get really excited about.

00:10:49.871 --> 00:10:57.471
Shay Sora Kim: So they'll tell me like, oh, tell my human I'm excited for Christmas, and I'm excited for them to be hosting or getting out of the house, things like that.

00:10:57.471 --> 00:11:06.911
Shay Sora Kim: And then the only other time that Christmas has been brought up in a reading is, you know, if they're using that to get something across that the human would understand.

00:11:06.911 --> 00:11:23.571
Shay Sora Kim: So typically that's like, if the cat was born around Christmas, or was given to them as a Christmas gift, or there's something significant around the holidays that they want to bring attention to, they'll usually show me like a Christmas tree as a symbol for that.

00:11:23.571 --> 00:11:26.351
Shay Sora Kim: But yeah, those are the reasons that they bring that up.

00:11:26.351 --> 00:11:33.271
Alexane Ricard: I remember, yeah, I remember you were like, oh, I think it was back in September, even August, and you were like, oh, it's sticky showing me Christmas.

00:11:33.271 --> 00:11:34.651
Alexane Ricard: Does that mean anything to you?

00:11:34.651 --> 00:11:36.871
Alexane Ricard: And I was like, well, I just love Christmas.

00:11:36.871 --> 00:11:40.991
Alexane Ricard: And you were like, oh, I think she's really excited because you're excited about Christmas.

00:11:41.111 --> 00:11:47.311
Alexane Ricard: So that was a way, I think, for you to show me also that pets and their owners are connected.

00:11:47.311 --> 00:11:51.071
Alexane Ricard: And when you feel excited, that's when your pet will feel excited.

00:11:51.071 --> 00:11:56.311
Alexane Ricard: And when you feel anxious, like when you're going to fly with your cat, then your cat will feel anxious because you're feeling anxious.

00:11:56.311 --> 00:11:59.271
Alexane Ricard: So that's kind of what the energy you were talking about, right?

00:11:59.271 --> 00:12:02.011
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah, we are so closely bonded to them.

00:12:02.011 --> 00:12:04.831
Shay Sora Kim: And I do believe that they're in our lives for a reason.

00:12:04.831 --> 00:12:11.991
Shay Sora Kim: And they spend a majority all their time, basically, with us in our home and very reliant on us.

00:12:11.991 --> 00:12:16.031
Shay Sora Kim: So yeah, so they really kind of become one in a lot of ways.

00:12:17.571 --> 00:12:21.531
Mary Tan: So in talking to pets, what kind of gifts do they like?

00:12:21.531 --> 00:12:23.531
Mary Tan: What are the popular ones?

00:12:23.531 --> 00:12:25.671
Mary Tan: What's a trend, I guess?

00:12:25.671 --> 00:12:28.151
Shay Sora Kim: The trend, that's the question.

00:12:28.151 --> 00:12:40.491
Shay Sora Kim: Well, it really depends on the individual cat because like humans, they seem to have different levels of awareness and really depends on what they feel like is important to share.

00:12:40.491 --> 00:12:47.311
Shay Sora Kim: So I'll have cats who tell me more surface, like that brand of catnip was weird, let's try this other one.

00:12:47.311 --> 00:12:51.491
Shay Sora Kim: Or a lot of the times I get like larger litter box would be cool.

00:12:51.491 --> 00:12:52.951
Alexane Ricard: Oh, okay.

00:12:52.951 --> 00:12:54.351
Shay Sora Kim: In terms of products.

00:12:54.351 --> 00:13:01.551
Shay Sora Kim: But then when we go deeper, a lot of cats will tell me that just the gift of their human presence is important.

00:13:01.551 --> 00:13:08.431
Shay Sora Kim: And just like spending not necessarily more time, but quality time, especially around the holidays, you know.

00:13:08.431 --> 00:13:10.271
Mary Tan: So are dogs the same way?

00:13:10.271 --> 00:13:11.391
Mary Tan: Oh, sorry, Alex.

00:13:11.391 --> 00:13:12.851
Alexane Ricard: No, no, go for it.

00:13:12.851 --> 00:13:13.711
Shay Sora Kim: It's an important question.

00:13:13.711 --> 00:13:15.491
Shay Sora Kim: Yes, dogs are the same way.

00:13:15.491 --> 00:13:20.671
Mary Tan: What about seniors dealing with seniors and then kittens and puppies?

00:13:20.671 --> 00:13:23.091
Mary Tan: Like, is that different too?

00:13:23.091 --> 00:13:25.691
Shay Sora Kim: In terms of what products that they bring up?

00:13:25.691 --> 00:13:30.751
Mary Tan: Or in terms of when they're talking to like maturity levels, does that come out?

00:13:30.751 --> 00:13:38.571
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah, well, you know, humans, despite the age, we all have very maturity levels and like different places in our journey.

00:13:38.571 --> 00:13:42.611
Shay Sora Kim: And so, you know, a senior woman, they just need a good laugh.

00:13:42.611 --> 00:13:48.011
Shay Sora Kim: And then their cats will send me messages that kind of bring that up for them or like memories.

00:13:48.011 --> 00:13:55.771
Shay Sora Kim: And then some, yeah, feel like wise souls and they're deeply bonded to their person and they're kind of here together.

00:13:55.871 --> 00:13:59.751
Shay Sora Kim: And then they often do kind of transition together.

00:13:59.751 --> 00:14:01.191
Shay Sora Kim: I've noticed that as well.

00:14:01.191 --> 00:14:06.351
Shay Sora Kim: And it really depends on, yeah, that unique bond and the individual cat or human.

00:14:06.351 --> 00:14:08.391
Alexane Ricard: And that's amazing.

00:14:08.391 --> 00:14:11.051
Alexane Ricard: Do you do pet readings as well for other pets?

00:14:11.051 --> 00:14:18.471
Alexane Ricard: So there's cats, there's dogs, but I don't know, if somebody has like a hedgehog or a raccoon.

00:14:18.471 --> 00:14:19.791
Alexane Ricard: Lizard.

00:14:19.791 --> 00:14:20.751
Alexane Ricard: A lizard.

00:14:20.751 --> 00:14:21.551
Alexane Ricard: Yeah, I don't know.

00:14:21.551 --> 00:14:22.271
Alexane Ricard: Is it harder?

00:14:23.011 --> 00:14:30.591
Alexane Ricard: Because I guess you have a cat too, familiar with cats, but when it's an animal, you might not be very familiar with like a hedgehog or a raccoon.

00:14:30.591 --> 00:14:33.351
Alexane Ricard: I don't know if you've ever owned those animals.

00:14:33.351 --> 00:14:35.731
Alexane Ricard: Is it a bit harder to try to connect with them?

00:14:35.731 --> 00:14:36.631
Shay Sora Kim: That's a great question.

00:14:36.631 --> 00:14:43.891
Shay Sora Kim: So because I have a special place for cats, I do get a lot of cat clients just because they like seem to be attracted to me.

00:14:43.891 --> 00:14:47.591
Shay Sora Kim: And so, but no, you can read any animal.

00:14:47.591 --> 00:14:51.451
Shay Sora Kim: It's not limited to one species because it all just sort of works the same.

00:14:51.891 --> 00:15:06.511
Shay Sora Kim: In terms of when, if it's harder or not, I would actually say in some instances that weeding, like a different animal, is easier for me, just because the information is so different and new.

00:15:06.511 --> 00:15:15.231
Shay Sora Kim: And I'm not, you know, we all have, we're humans, so we all have our own, like, pre-conditioned beliefs and biases.

00:15:15.231 --> 00:15:23.771
Shay Sora Kim: And so if I know a lot about cats already, so I have to kind of put that aside to just receive the information that I'm getting without rethinking it.

00:15:23.771 --> 00:15:29.351
Shay Sora Kim: And so if I know if it's like an alligator or a lizard or something like that, that it's like, I have no idea.

00:15:29.351 --> 00:15:31.951
Shay Sora Kim: I know nothing about lizards, you know?

00:15:31.951 --> 00:15:39.671
Shay Sora Kim: So I can just like accept the information as it's coming in and just have a little more of a relaxed, like fun time with it.

00:15:39.671 --> 00:15:41.191
Shay Sora Kim: But yeah, I've never read a hedgehog.

00:15:41.191 --> 00:15:44.931
Shay Sora Kim: I would love to, if anyone's ever read a hedgehog.

00:15:44.931 --> 00:15:53.191
Alexane Ricard: And so as the holidays are coming, I also know a lot of people, including me, we like to put costumes on our cats.

00:15:53.191 --> 00:15:57.411
Alexane Ricard: Well, Tzatziki does not like it, but I had some rescues that were fine with it.

00:15:57.411 --> 00:16:05.791
Alexane Ricard: And so to promote them to get adopted, we would put on, you know, like a little Santa Claus costume and that would help, you know, because the pictures are cute.

00:16:05.791 --> 00:16:08.071
Alexane Ricard: Did you ever have a cat tell you something about that?

00:16:08.071 --> 00:16:10.911
Alexane Ricard: Or have you ever felt like, I don't know, what do they feel like?

00:16:11.231 --> 00:16:14.091
Alexane Ricard: Does it feel like putting clothes on them like we do?

00:16:14.911 --> 00:16:18.371
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah, so, yeah, the tolerance level varies.

00:16:18.371 --> 00:16:23.071
Shay Sora Kim: I did get one cat who felt that the outfits didn't match their personality.

00:16:23.071 --> 00:16:33.811
Shay Sora Kim: So they'll kind of suggest, hey, you know, I don't want to be so cutesy, even though the human loves putting some cutesy, you know, sweaters or clothes on them.

00:16:33.811 --> 00:16:37.291
Shay Sora Kim: But it was never like out of severe judgment.

00:16:37.291 --> 00:16:41.831
Shay Sora Kim: It's more like, hey, like I would prefer, you knew this about my personality.

00:16:42.331 --> 00:16:50.371
Shay Sora Kim: But then for the most part, like when kittens and stuff there, it feels a little bit weird, but they're very tolerant of it.

00:16:50.371 --> 00:17:03.331
Shay Sora Kim: They sort of, if you talk to them about why it is that you love to put clothes on or what this is for, or, you know, we're dressing you up so we can take cute pictures of you for the holidays or to get you adopted, then they're pretty just on board.

00:17:03.331 --> 00:17:04.031
Alexane Ricard: That's interesting.

00:17:04.031 --> 00:17:05.351
Mary Tan: That's really cool.

00:17:05.351 --> 00:17:08.291
Mary Tan: So do you do any humans too?

00:17:08.371 --> 00:17:09.591
Alexane Ricard: Human readings?

00:17:09.591 --> 00:17:10.291
Mary Tan: Yeah.

00:17:10.291 --> 00:17:11.571
Mary Tan: Can you do humans too?

00:17:11.571 --> 00:17:13.351
Mary Tan: Like, can you read Mark?

00:17:13.351 --> 00:17:16.491
Shay Sora Kim: Well, the work is, yeah, I can really expand to that.

00:17:16.491 --> 00:17:21.411
Shay Sora Kim: I tend to focus on animals because that just, you know, is the most fun for me.

00:17:21.411 --> 00:17:22.351
Mary Tan: Oh, yeah.

00:17:22.351 --> 00:17:22.951
Mary Tan: Yeah.

00:17:22.951 --> 00:17:24.151
Mark Winter: I have a question.

00:17:24.151 --> 00:17:24.831
Shay Sora Kim: Well, go ahead.

00:17:24.831 --> 00:17:26.711
Mark Winter: Do cats know that they're cats?

00:17:26.711 --> 00:17:30.131
Mark Winter: Like our cats sit on the couch with us and they watch TV at night.

00:17:30.131 --> 00:17:36.271
Mark Winter: Now, do they see like when there's like a new car coming up for Christmas, you know, that they're advertising, is that something they might want?

00:17:36.371 --> 00:17:39.631
Mark Winter: Do they know they're a cat and they can't drive?

00:17:39.631 --> 00:17:41.311
Shay Sora Kim: I love that question.

00:17:41.311 --> 00:17:44.251
Shay Sora Kim: It's literally like I've seen the spectrum.

00:17:44.251 --> 00:17:53.331
Shay Sora Kim: So there are cats that, you know, are just happy to be here and they're just so happy to experience what it's like to be a cat in this lifetime.

00:17:53.331 --> 00:17:57.991
Shay Sora Kim: And then there are those souls that feel a bit more like they've been around the block.

00:17:57.991 --> 00:18:01.471
Shay Sora Kim: And so they know a thing or two about humans and our lifestyle.

00:18:01.471 --> 00:18:03.411
Shay Sora Kim: So it depends on the cat you have.

00:18:03.411 --> 00:18:08.231
Shay Sora Kim: I would say if they're watching TV, they could be like, these are just moving images.

00:18:08.231 --> 00:18:09.911
Shay Sora Kim: I don't know.

00:18:09.911 --> 00:18:15.511
Shay Sora Kim: But I am astounded by some of the images that they do give me, you know, like random products or human things.

00:18:15.511 --> 00:18:25.171
Shay Sora Kim: And I think a lot of the time that's because the humans are sending those pictures to the animal or talking about it a lot or like interested in that product.

00:18:25.171 --> 00:18:30.731
Shay Sora Kim: And so the animal kind of knows from that connection with their human what that might be.

00:18:30.731 --> 00:18:37.911
Shay Sora Kim: And so they give me kind of like a rough image of that and enough for the human to go, oh, I know what that is, makes sense.

00:18:37.911 --> 00:18:47.631
Alexane Ricard: Yeah, I remember Katsuzuki showed you the beach and Katsuzuki has never been to the beach, as far as I know, as long as she's been with me, she's never been to the beach.

00:18:47.631 --> 00:18:51.231
Alexane Ricard: But I've always told her, I will take you to the beach one day.

00:18:51.231 --> 00:18:54.131
Alexane Ricard: And then Shay one day was like, Katsuzuki is showing me a beach.

00:18:54.131 --> 00:18:56.451
Alexane Ricard: And I was like, no way.

00:18:56.451 --> 00:18:58.471
Alexane Ricard: She really wants to go to the beach, but she's never been.

00:18:58.471 --> 00:19:06.211
Alexane Ricard: And she like, it was so weird, like because I was talking about it, she knew what it was and like such a weird fame.

00:19:06.211 --> 00:19:06.731
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah.

00:19:06.731 --> 00:19:12.491
Shay Sora Kim: And she feels like a, you know, an older soul on the spectrum that I'm talking about as well.

00:19:12.491 --> 00:19:16.631
Shay Sora Kim: So it does feel that she knows, she has an idea of what the beach is.

00:19:16.631 --> 00:19:23.431
Shay Sora Kim: And I remember, yeah, she was showing me little crabbies, like she's excited to see the little ocean, creatures on the sand.

00:19:23.431 --> 00:19:32.471
Alexane Ricard: Well, and we went to the beach a couple of days ago, and she was actually on the rocks, and she's trying to get under the rocks, so where the crabs are.

00:19:32.471 --> 00:19:36.791
Alexane Ricard: And I was like, Tzatziki, don't go in there, because I'm never going to find you again, and I don't want to pull you.

00:19:36.791 --> 00:19:40.311
Alexane Ricard: So I didn't let her go, but see how incredible it is.

00:19:40.311 --> 00:19:44.091
Alexane Ricard: Like she really told you I want to see crabs, and she wanted to go into the crabs.

00:19:44.091 --> 00:19:45.211
Alexane Ricard: Wow.

00:19:45.211 --> 00:19:46.311
Alexane Ricard: That's mind blowing.

00:19:46.311 --> 00:19:56.231
Mary Tan: We got to take a break again, but when we come back, we're going to talk to Shay about how people react when they hear that she's an animal communicator.

00:19:56.231 --> 00:19:57.271
Mary Tan: So we'll be right back.

Mary Tan: And we're back with Shay.

00:21:00.593 --> 00:21:02.833
Mary Tan: Shay, I have a question about you.

00:21:02.833 --> 00:21:09.653
Mary Tan: What about the skeptics out there that say, oh, that's not true, she can't do that.

00:21:09.653 --> 00:21:11.853
Mary Tan: What do you say to these people?

00:21:11.873 --> 00:21:13.373
Shay Sora Kim: Um, great question.

00:21:13.373 --> 00:21:18.533
Shay Sora Kim: I think that they are just, I totally accepting of where they are.

00:21:18.533 --> 00:21:21.993
Shay Sora Kim: And I just feel like, you know, it's not for me.

00:21:21.993 --> 00:21:25.433
Shay Sora Kim: They're not for me in that, you know, they need to find their own way.

00:21:26.093 --> 00:21:31.533
Shay Sora Kim: And, you know, there's no amount of me trying to convince them that's going to change that.

00:21:31.533 --> 00:21:36.233
Shay Sora Kim: So I trust God and the universe to kind of guide them to where they need to be.

00:21:36.233 --> 00:21:39.633
Shay Sora Kim: And I refuse any negativity in my way.

00:21:39.633 --> 00:21:41.773
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah, I really feel like, you know, I've been put here.

00:21:41.773 --> 00:21:46.013
Shay Sora Kim: I'm just one of many animal communicators, intuitive, here to help folks.

00:21:46.013 --> 00:21:52.953
Shay Sora Kim: And so I'm really here for the people who will most respond to me and that I can help and I can serve.

00:21:53.033 --> 00:21:54.153
Mary Tan: I love that.

00:21:54.593 --> 00:21:57.093
Alexane Ricard: That's a good PR advice also.

00:21:57.093 --> 00:21:59.673
Alexane Ricard: It's sometimes it's just not your crowd.

00:21:59.673 --> 00:22:03.613
Alexane Ricard: And no matter how much you try to please them, it won't work.

00:22:03.613 --> 00:22:08.793
Alexane Ricard: So just try to attract your own crowd and just try to promote yourself within that niche.

00:22:08.793 --> 00:22:21.853
Alexane Ricard: Because, yeah, what's the point of trying so hard to promote yourself to a skeptical that at the end, it's just going to give you negative reviews or negative advice because their mind won't be open and it might not work out.

00:22:21.853 --> 00:22:27.693
Shay Sora Kim: And that's what's big about this work is it requires us to be open and our animals want us to be open.

00:22:27.693 --> 00:22:40.833
Shay Sora Kim: So, you know, I do have clients who tell me that they're a tad skeptical, which is totally fine because if they're here, that means there's a part of them that does want to believe and doesn't want to like explore their relationship with their pet.

00:22:40.833 --> 00:22:46.213
Shay Sora Kim: And so if they're here, I trust that and I'm open to them being surprised.

00:22:46.333 --> 00:22:49.693
Shay Sora Kim: And I'm thrilled to be on that part of their journey with them.

00:22:49.693 --> 00:23:01.093
Shay Sora Kim: But it's those that are just like arms crossed, not willing to accept any in piece of information, you know, that, you know, is kind of a waste of time, you know, for both of us.

00:23:01.093 --> 00:23:05.713
Alexane Ricard: So, is there anything people should look out for when they're looking for an animal communicator?

00:23:05.713 --> 00:23:10.573
Alexane Ricard: Is there any like certification or anything they should look out?

00:23:10.573 --> 00:23:35.073
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah, so, you know, many animal communities out there are certified and so I like personally, I'm certified with the Danielle McKinnon School as a soul level animal communicator, meaning that not only do we get some physical evidence, but the point is to kind of go deeper into the soul level, which is where the pets will share more of the deeper lessons and why they're here in this life with you.

00:23:35.073 --> 00:23:48.993
Shay Sora Kim: And I, yeah, encourage folks to do a bit of digging, you know, maybe not go with the first person that you see, do some comparison, you know, there's a bunch of skill levels and price ranges.

00:23:48.993 --> 00:23:54.973
Shay Sora Kim: And ultimately I tell everyone just to trust your gut, trust your own intuition when you come across them.

00:23:54.973 --> 00:24:04.853
Alexane Ricard: And do you feel like your work is complimentary to a behaviorist or does it replace a behaviorist or how do you level up compared to a behaviorist?

00:24:04.853 --> 00:24:06.713
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah, I think it's complimentary.

00:24:06.713 --> 00:24:09.193
Shay Sora Kim: I think that these roles are all necessary.

00:24:09.193 --> 00:24:18.833
Shay Sora Kim: I'm studying some behavior myself and I think that really helped kind of fill in the pieces because the cats will only show me so much.

00:24:18.833 --> 00:24:28.393
Shay Sora Kim: And then when they want their he-men to kind of go through this deeper training with them, that behavior knowledge is really important in our like follow ups.

00:24:28.393 --> 00:24:29.593
Shay Sora Kim: So it's complimentary.

00:24:29.593 --> 00:24:34.613
Shay Sora Kim: I think that we could benefit from all the methods and modalities.

00:24:34.613 --> 00:24:40.973
Mary Tan: If somebody wants to give a session with an animal communicator, how do you find the right person?

00:24:41.073 --> 00:24:45.313
Mary Tan: Because is it kind of like finding like a mental health counselor too?

00:24:45.313 --> 00:24:55.133
Mary Tan: Like, sometimes you just got to find the right person, you know, maybe somebody only wants to tell their problems to somebody who's female or male, you know, that sort of thing.

00:24:55.133 --> 00:24:56.493
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah, that's a great way to put it.

00:24:56.493 --> 00:25:04.133
Shay Sora Kim: I think that we definitely need to be open to that trial and error process of finding someone that's a good fit.

00:25:04.133 --> 00:25:06.293
Shay Sora Kim: Just because, yeah, it's human to human.

00:25:06.433 --> 00:25:20.273
Shay Sora Kim: And so, if someone for some reason, unconscious or conscious, is triggered by me or doesn't feel comfortable sharing something with me or different intuitive, I would listen to that and look within as to what's coming up for you.

00:25:20.273 --> 00:25:32.033
Shay Sora Kim: And yeah, you really want to find someone that you can feel comfortable exploring this with, because because it's like a spiritual business, a lot of this is like intimate and personal.

00:25:32.033 --> 00:25:34.933
Shay Sora Kim: And yeah, you really want to take your time with that.

00:25:35.033 --> 00:25:45.153
Shay Sora Kim: And on the subject of gifting, I think that I personally take that relationship or bond between animal and human very seriously.

00:25:45.153 --> 00:26:00.153
Shay Sora Kim: And so sometimes, you know, if gifting is, it can be tricky because if you gift it to someone and they're not ready to receive that information or they're not ready to get any of those messages from their animal, then it's not the best time to have that reading.

00:26:00.213 --> 00:26:05.993
Shay Sora Kim: So I offer like gift certificate for them to use in their own time.

00:26:05.993 --> 00:26:10.393
Shay Sora Kim: But yeah, for the most part, I encourage, you know, you're ready, you should do the booking.

00:26:10.913 --> 00:26:12.233
Alexane Ricard: I love that.

00:26:12.233 --> 00:26:22.573
Alexane Ricard: And talking about the holidays again, so you know, sometimes it can be a bit stressful because some cats, some pets like Tzatziki are very excited about Christmas because I am.

00:26:22.573 --> 00:26:29.073
Alexane Ricard: But for some people, the holidays are also very stressful because they've got to cook for like 20 people, they've got to order the turkey, blah, blah, blah.

00:26:29.813 --> 00:26:33.613
Alexane Ricard: If you're stressed, how do you not communicate that to your pets?

00:26:33.613 --> 00:26:37.753
Alexane Ricard: So your pet feels a bit calmer on Christmas Day when all the family comes up.

00:26:37.753 --> 00:26:38.833
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah.

00:26:38.833 --> 00:26:46.313
Shay Sora Kim: Well, I often notice that animals, I'm thinking of like certain dogs, they come to you and they really want you to de-stress.

00:26:46.313 --> 00:26:53.973
Shay Sora Kim: So like they kind of feel it's their mission to be the one to remind you, hey, let's like slow down and let's take a breath.

00:26:53.973 --> 00:26:56.453
Shay Sora Kim: Or even they'll be like, let's go up for a walk.

00:26:56.613 --> 00:27:04.133
Shay Sora Kim: I need to get out of this house just to like reset, recalibrate, get away from all this like family chaotic energy.

00:27:04.133 --> 00:27:08.893
Shay Sora Kim: And so that's a good time to like listen to your pet because they're here to help you.

00:27:08.893 --> 00:27:12.013
Shay Sora Kim: Oh, on that walk, go take a moment for yourself.

00:27:12.013 --> 00:27:23.293
Shay Sora Kim: If suddenly you're out and, you know, your cat's image just flashes in your head and you feel like, oh, they need you or they want to be fed or something.

00:27:23.293 --> 00:27:31.313
Shay Sora Kim: Maybe listen to that because it could be them signaling, hey, you could leave the party a little bit earlier if you wanted to.

00:27:31.313 --> 00:27:33.413
Shay Sora Kim: Or they could say, hey, I'm good here.

00:27:33.413 --> 00:27:35.393
Shay Sora Kim: You can stay as long as you need.

00:27:35.393 --> 00:27:37.633
Shay Sora Kim: So they really are helping us.

00:27:37.633 --> 00:27:43.173
Shay Sora Kim: They're actively sending out that energy to help us de-stress over the holidays.

00:27:43.173 --> 00:27:52.353
Shay Sora Kim: But ultimately, if you're looking for a tip to, you know, better de-stress with them, I would just say like, take a moment and be present with them.

00:27:52.353 --> 00:27:55.973
Shay Sora Kim: Kind of like zone out everything and just focus on your animal.

00:27:55.973 --> 00:27:58.133
Shay Sora Kim: And that often helps with anxiety.

00:27:58.133 --> 00:27:59.133
Alexane Ricard: I love that.

00:27:59.133 --> 00:28:07.493
Alexane Ricard: And so if people are on Christmas, you know, they're like, oh my God, for Christmas, I really want to give my pet something new.

00:28:07.493 --> 00:28:17.373
Alexane Ricard: And maybe for a cat, it might be like a stroller or a leash and a harness or, I don't know, just something a bit, a new experience for them.

00:28:17.373 --> 00:28:32.753
Alexane Ricard: How can people know if it's a good idea or like how, like, I don't know, let's say Mary really wants her cat, Fleur, okay, at Christmas, I'm going to get her a harness and then she's going to become like an adventure cat in January, new resolution.

00:28:32.753 --> 00:28:35.393
Alexane Ricard: How can she know if that's a good idea or not?

00:28:35.393 --> 00:28:37.153
Alexane Ricard: Do you have any tips on that?

00:28:37.153 --> 00:28:41.073
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah, so our animals are pretty adaptable.

00:28:41.073 --> 00:28:43.433
Shay Sora Kim: They found us for a reason.

00:28:43.433 --> 00:28:49.793
Shay Sora Kim: And so if Mary wants to go on these adventures, then at some level, her animal knows that.

00:28:50.173 --> 00:28:53.613
Shay Sora Kim: So I would start with talking to them about it.

00:28:53.613 --> 00:28:57.113
Shay Sora Kim: Slow is the key word here, slow introductions.

00:28:57.113 --> 00:29:00.193
Shay Sora Kim: You know, there are some animals, of course, that are like, oh, what's this?

00:29:00.193 --> 00:29:04.633
Shay Sora Kim: And they're like excited about everything new and like their game.

00:29:04.633 --> 00:29:07.533
Shay Sora Kim: But for the most part, I say go slow.

00:29:07.533 --> 00:29:14.833
Shay Sora Kim: Start with having conversations with them about it and, you know, send pictures to them about what the experience would be like.

00:29:14.833 --> 00:29:19.373
Shay Sora Kim: And then, you know, if it's like a harness, then you can introduce it to them.

00:29:19.493 --> 00:29:22.973
Shay Sora Kim: And associate it as a positive thing with the treat.

00:29:22.973 --> 00:29:25.233
Shay Sora Kim: Like, oh, I'm excited about this new harness.

00:29:25.233 --> 00:29:32.713
Shay Sora Kim: Like, you need to feel as excited as you want your pet to be because they really get your energy as a cue.

00:29:32.713 --> 00:29:34.813
Shay Sora Kim: Congruence is the word that comes to mind.

00:29:34.813 --> 00:29:38.953
Shay Sora Kim: They really want to know that what you're saying matches how you're feeling.

00:29:38.953 --> 00:29:44.933
Shay Sora Kim: So if you are introducing this harness, but you're all full of like nerves about, do I like this?

00:29:44.933 --> 00:29:46.033
Shay Sora Kim: Do I not like this?

00:29:46.453 --> 00:29:51.753
Shay Sora Kim: It probably means like your animal is going to be confused about it as well.

00:29:51.753 --> 00:29:58.453
Shay Sora Kim: And so do your best to kind of figure out how to be congruent about your feelings and then your words.

00:29:58.453 --> 00:30:17.173
Shay Sora Kim: And then after a bit of time of introducing that, then putting it on them slowly and getting them used to it, then I feel like not only have you trained your pet to handle this new item that you're excited about, but you've trained yourself to be prepared to go take your animal out as well.

00:30:17.173 --> 00:30:30.313
Shay Sora Kim: A lot of folks are ready to jump in with this new product to change their lives, but really their animal wants them to change their own, they want them to feel ready as humans to go use this as well.

00:30:30.313 --> 00:30:31.353
Shay Sora Kim: Does that make sense?

00:30:33.013 --> 00:30:45.773
Alexane Ricard: Yeah, I guess the big takeout is your animal will feel what you feel, so you always have to be careful about how you feel about a situation for them to feel the way you want them to feel.

00:30:45.773 --> 00:30:46.233
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah.

00:30:48.073 --> 00:30:50.233
Alexane Ricard: I was like, wow, so many words.

00:30:50.233 --> 00:30:54.293
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah, you may not be as ready as you think, and your animal picks up on that.

00:30:54.293 --> 00:30:58.553
Shay Sora Kim: So we're trying to make sure you feel good about whatever it is you're going to do too.

00:30:58.553 --> 00:31:01.193
Shay Sora Kim: And sometimes that's not 100 percent perfect.

00:31:01.273 --> 00:31:06.153
Shay Sora Kim: You're not going to go out and try a new thing and feel completely confident because it's new.

00:31:06.153 --> 00:31:07.393
Shay Sora Kim: So they understand that.

00:31:07.393 --> 00:31:22.653
Shay Sora Kim: But if you're aware of that and then you go out on these adventures, you know, like you did to the beach, kind of, okay, game ready for whether or not they're going to accept it or how they're going to act, then for the most part, they'll show you like, okay, I can do this too.

00:31:22.653 --> 00:31:27.633
Shay Sora Kim: Like, she seems like she can handle whatever comes up, so I can handle that too.

00:31:27.633 --> 00:31:28.653
Mary Tan: That's amazing.

00:31:28.933 --> 00:31:31.573
Mary Tan: Wow, you're so talented, Shay.

00:31:31.573 --> 00:31:36.053
Mary Tan: So if people want to get ahold of you, what's the best way to do that?

00:31:36.053 --> 00:31:44.633
Shay Sora Kim: Yeah, so you can find me on Instagram at ShaySoraKim, just my name, and then also my website is shaysorakim.com.

00:31:44.633 --> 00:31:46.073
Mary Tan: All right.

00:31:46.073 --> 00:31:52.513
Mary Tan: Well, this was just an insightful interviewer, really amazed at your ability.

00:31:52.513 --> 00:31:53.413
Mary Tan: It's just amazing.

00:31:53.413 --> 00:31:59.753
Mary Tan: And then Alex with Tzatziki, it's just been amazing what you've told her and been able to do for her.

00:31:59.753 --> 00:32:06.553
Mary Tan: And I know Alex was so worried about the long plane ride from France to Canada.

00:32:06.553 --> 00:32:08.333
Mary Tan: So, wow.

00:32:08.333 --> 00:32:12.033
Mary Tan: Well, but we have to wrap up the show.

00:32:12.033 --> 00:32:16.053
Mary Tan: Unfortunately, we keep going and going.

00:32:16.053 --> 00:32:21.053
Mary Tan: We are so excited, of course, for all of you listeners out there.

00:32:21.053 --> 00:32:23.713
Mary Tan: And we really want to do this for you.

00:32:23.713 --> 00:32:27.513
Mary Tan: We are all about making life better for animals.

00:32:27.753 --> 00:32:31.093
Mary Tan: And of course, we are a public relations podcast.

Mary Tan: And we want you to know that if you have a question for us that you want us to answer, please feel free to reach out to us on Instagram or Facebook under the Whisker Report.

00:32:42.113 --> 00:32:47.093
Mary Tan: And we're going to try to answer it in a future podcast episode.

00:32:47.093 --> 00:32:58.633
Mark Winter: And before we go, we want to wish you all happy holidays and leave you with my Christmas song, Christmas in the Air, by Mark Winter, available to stream everywhere.

00:32:58.633 --> 00:33:00.093
Mary Tan: So cool.

00:33:00.093 --> 00:33:04.673
Alexane Ricard: So as we always say, bakr loud and purr smart.

00:33:04.673 --> 00:33:06.053
Mary Tan: See ya, everyone.

00:33:06.053 --> 00:33:11.173
