Dr. Cynthia Fast holds a Ph.D. and Master’s degree in Psychology, specializing in Learning and Behavior and Behavioral Neuroscience, from UCLA. While a member of the Behavioral and Systems Neuroscience department at Rutgers University, she investigated the neurobiology of rodent olfaction, including how learning influences olfactory sensation and perception. She has received numerous professional awards, including the prestigious James McKeen Cattel Gold Medal from the New York Academy of Sciences, the Shepherd Ivory Franz Distinguished Teaching Award from UCLA, Albion College’s Young Alumni Award, and designation as the Presidential Scholar of the Association for Behavior Analysis International. Cindy has served as a mentor in the Global STEM Alliance Next Scholars program and currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Experimental Analysis of Behavior and as an affiliate of Rutgers University, Center for Cognitive Science. She has more than twenty years of experience conducting research and training with a variety of animals, including rats, mice, pigeons, and hermit crabs, in addition to family cats, dogs, birds, and horses.
