Dr. Staci Spears
DVM, DACVO
Dr. Spears, a native Michigander, graduated from Hillsdale College in 2013 with a B.S. in biology. Originally planning to pursue a career in aquatic animal medicine, she traveled to Gainesville, Florida for veterinary school at the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine. During her junior year she developed a passion for ophthalmology after working on a project involving ocular disease in a group of production fish. After graduating with her DVM and a certificate in aquatic animal health in 2017, Dr. Spears traveled back to Southfield, Michigan to complete a small animal rotating internship with BluePearl Veterinary Specialists. In 2018 she completed an ophthalmology internship at South Atlanta Veterinary Emergency and Specialty where she met Dr. Storey, which led to her completing a residency in veterinary ophthalmology at Animal Eye Clinic of Pensacola. Dr. Spears enjoys all aspects of veterinary ophthalmology, but has special interests in ophthalmic surgery. Outside of work, Dr. Spears enjoys sheep herding with her border collie, playing and writing music, and tabletop gaming
