Bob and Cuba chat with Stephanie Mattera, Mayor’s Alliance of NYC Spokesperson.  The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity, is the sole umbrella organization for animal welfare in NYC. Since 2003, they have been working with their coalition of 150+ rescue groups and shelters to find homes for thousands of New York City's dogs and cats. Their goal is to transform New York City into a no-kill community by 2015, where no dogs or cats of reasonable health or temperament are killed simply because they do not have homes.

Stephanie Mattera is a communications and community relations professional with a passion for promoting style, fashion, and charity as vehicles of self-expression and empowerment. Since 2009, Ms. Mattera has been a Brand Ambassador for Glamour magazine. She is also an animal welfare advocate and since 2010 has served as the spokesperson for the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals. In 2013, she received the Bart Lawson Alumni Award for Professional Service and Outreach from New York University's SCPS.

Ms. Mattera is currently a Global Communications Consultant at Starwood Hotels & Resorts. Her corporate background includes serving as the Community Events & Outreach Manager for international lifestyle brand, Alex and Ani's Charity by Design division. In this role, she launched the Charmed by Charity in-store events program at Alex and Ani retail locations nationwide, created and fostered relationships with charities, and generated more than $500,000 in retail event sales and $80,000 in donations for non-profit organizations. She also created the Charity by Design partnership between the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals and Alex and Ani, which has generated more than $200,000 for the non-profit's life-saving initiatives through the sale of the exclusive Paw Prints bangle.

Stephanie Mattera has worked in corporate retail for Macy's and Polo Ralph Lauren, two iconic American brands. She officially launched her corporate fashion career at Macy's Merchandising Group in 2005 as a Product Development Executive Trainee and served as a Training Specialist and Learning and Career Coach for the organization's Product Development population.

Ms. Mattera holds a M.S. in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from New York University, a certificate in Digital Journalism from New York Film Academy in partnership with NBC News, an M.B.A. in Global Business Leadership from Johnson & Wales University, and a B.A. in English from the University of Rhode Island.
