Barry Seltzer

Barry Seltzer is considered to be a leading expert in his preferred areas of practice - estate planning, including estate planning for pets, estate administration, business succession planning and elder law. He is credited with having developed a unique, value-based multi-disciplinary approach for these areas of law.

Barry has practiced law for nearly three decades in Toronto in these preferred areas of private practice. A frequent television and radio guest in Canada, the United States, England and Australia, he also co-authored a series of books. He has lectured at many colleges, universities and institutions. Born and raised in Montreal, Barry attended Concordia University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. At the University of Montreal, Barry pursued a postgraduate degree in science. A concurrent interest in law drew him to McGill University where he received a Bachelor of Law degree graduating with honors. Barry completed the articling portion of his legal training in Toronto, where he was called to the Ontario Bar in 1981.

Barry’s newest book released this month in the United States and Canada and coauthored with Gerry W. Beyer, Governor Preston E. Smith Regents Professor of Law (Emeritus), Texas Tech University School of Law is a detailed guide to estate planning for one’s pets and companion animals.
